Hong Kong Study Immigration

Program Overview

Under the current Hong Kong Mainland Students Entry Scheme, Mainlanders who meet the eligibility requirements of the scheme can apply for admission to sub-degree courses at the level of Hong Kong Associate Degree or Higher Diploma and apply for a study visa to study in Hong Kong as a student (hereinafter referred to as "Application for Entry in Hong Kong to Study for a Sub-degree" or "Application").

 

Under the current Hong Kong Mainland Students Entry Scheme for Study, Mainlanders who meet the eligibility requirements of the scheme are allowed to apply for a study visa as a student (hereinafter referred to as "Entry for Study in Hong Kong").

Associate Degree


Associate Degree Programme Introduction

Sub-degree courses are a general term for post-secondary education qualifications, including associate degree courses, higher diploma courses, and professional diploma courses. The duration of study is usually two years.

Differences between an associate degree and a higher diploma:
The associate degree has general education content (such as language, information technology, liberal arts, etc.), which accounts for at least 60% of the course.
Higher Diploma courses contain specialized content (such as specialized subjects, professional training, vocational skills, etc.), which accounts for at least 60% of the course.

 

Application Requirements

The applicant does not have any known serious criminal record and meets one of the following requirements:
Students who are in their third year of high school and have two years of high school transcripts and a certain level of English communication skills; or are current or past high school graduates and can provide college entrance examination transcripts; or have a high school degree or above and can provide test scores; or have been enrolled in internationally recognized school preparatory courses or above and can provide transcripts; or have passed international exams such as IB/SAT/A Level.

​Minimum score requirement:

Total college entrance examination score of 300 points (full score 750 points) + college entrance examination English score of 70 points (full score 150 points) + interview;
The number of Hong Kong associate degree places is limited and admission will be based on merit.

 

Application Requirements

Master

Introduction to Master's Degrees in Hong Kong The most common master's degrees in Hong Kong are Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MS, MSc). The above two types of master's degrees may be research-based master's degrees, taught-based master's degrees, or a mixture of the two.

There are mainly the following types of master's degree programs in Hong Kong universities:

PhD, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy, is a research-based postgraduate degree with a study period of 5-6 years;
MPhil:Master of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master's degree, a research-based postgraduate degree with a study period of 2 years;
MSc: Master of Science, Master of Science, Master's degree, is a taught postgraduate program with a study period of 1-2 years;
MA: Master of Art, Master of Arts/Arts, Master's degree, is a taught postgraduate program with a study period of 1-2 years.

Eligibility Requirements

Hold a bachelor's degree or above in China or overseas, and be able to produce a bachelor's degree certificate + degree certificate + transcript, as well as a letter of recommendation and a personal statement;
Proof of English proficiency: Generally, TOEFL or IELTS scores are required, or CET-4 or CET-6 certificates from China are also acceptable (if any)
The applicant does not have any known serious criminal record.

 

Hong Kong Permanent Residency

If an applicant has ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for not less than seven consecutive years, he or she may apply for Hong Kong right of abode, Hong Kong permanent identity card and Hong Kong passport in accordance with the law.
